BEYOND THE OCEAN | A film by Alfredo Mareschi

I’m Alfredo Mareschi, a wedding videographer on the Amalfi Coast, and together with my team we tell love stories in Positano, across Italy, and around the world. Every wedding has its own unique energy, but some stay in your heart forever. Justin and Katerina’s intimate elopement wedding in Positano is one of those.

He is American, she is Ukrainian. Two lives that began thousands of miles apart, united by something stronger than any ocean.

They chose to celebrate their wedding in Italy, in Positano, at the breathtaking Villa Treville, overlooking one of the most iconic views of the Amalfi Coast.

Just the two of them. No guests. No distractions. Only love, faith, and raw emotions.

The day started inside their suite, with the sea stretching endlessly outside their window. No rush, no strict traditions to follow. They didn’t feel the need to avoid seeing each other before the ceremony. Instead, they chose to be present together from the very beginning.

Their symbolic ceremony took place on the private terrace of their suite, suspended between sky and sea in Positano. With them were only the celebrant and our wedding videography team. This intimacy allowed emotions to flow freely, without hesitation.

Even though it was a symbolic ceremony, their promises were deeply rooted in faith. Jesus was at the center of their vows, of their love story, of their reunion, and of their destiny. During her vows, Katerina said words that inspired the title of their wedding film:

“70 years with you will never be enough. I know there is more beyond this life, and when that time comes, our souls will find each other again, just as we found each other here, even if there is an ocean between us.”

An ocean that truly exists between Ukraine and America. A great physical distance that never scared them, but instead brought them closer. That is why I chose the title Beyond the Ocean for their Amalfi Coast elopement film.

After the ceremony, we embraced a beautiful couple session through the charming streets of Positano in a vintage Porsche. The wind in their hair, spontaneous laughter, the lightness of two souls who had just promised forever.

Then a boat ride along the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by the endless blue sea and the dramatic cliffs of Positano. Simple moments, yet filled with meaning. 

We later returned to Villa Treville for the cake cutting, once again just the two of them, immersed in beauty.

As evening arrived, the atmosphere became even more intimate. A candlelit table for two, framed by the villa’s stunning lamps, creating a romantic and private setting.

A toast to their love, in silence, fully aware that they had lived something truly unique.

It was not a big wedding.
It was not a traditional wedding. 

It was real.

Justin and Katerina reminded us that you don’t need a hundred guests to create an unforgettable destination wedding in Positano. Sometimes, all you need are two hearts, a sincere promise, and the certainty that even beyond an ocean, love finds its way. 

And maybe, as Katerina said, even beyond this life.
